NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation has donated $5,000 to Fernando Gutierrez, a Galatoire’s Restaurant employee of 31 years.
Gutierrez came to New Orleans from Nicaragua and recently suffered extensive injuries in a non-work related accident. The Foundation’s donation will assist Gutierrez with medical expenses related to his injury.
“This donation is such a blessing for Fernando,” said Melvin Rodrigue, chief operating officer of Galatoire’s Restaurant and member of LHF’s board of directors. “He is an extremely humble man that has worked diligently over the years, and I’m pleased our organization can offer generous support.”
Financial assistance for Gutierrez is one of many efforts by the LHF to assist those in need in the local community. Since its founding in 2006, the Foundation has supported numerous individuals and organizations through monetary and equipment donations, including Café Reconcile, Emeril Lagasse Foundation, Leah Chase/Dooky Chase Restaurant, St. Dominic School, University of New Orleans’ Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Administration, Boy Scouts of America, Chef Duke’s Foundation for Kids and Catholic Charities Archdiocese Of New Orleans.
The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to offer greater access to culinary education and arts, while providing support for the health and social welfare of children across the state. The LHF executes this through community outreach, children’s education, hospitality industry financial assistance and benevolence. For more information, visit www.louisianahospitalityfoundation.org.
